Maybank Receives Highest Award At 11th Annual Global CSR Summit & Awards On 4th April 2019

Maybank Group, through its corporate responsibility arm, Maybank Foundation received 2 awards, as a testament of Maybank’s initiative and drive to humanise financial services at the 11th Global CSR Summit & Awards which was held in Kuching on 4th April 2019. Maybank Foundation’s highly acclaimed Cashville Kidz Financial Literacy programme received the Gold Award in Best Community Programme Award category for companies with market capitalisation more than USD1 billion category. Meanwhile, Maybank Indonesia received the Bronze Award in the same category. Both Awards were received on behalf of Maybank Foundation and Maybank Indonesia by Khairudin Abdul Rahman, General Manager Maybank International Labuan Branch.

Across ASEAN, governments and regulators are increasingly pushing for better financial inclusion and financial literacy education. Maybank Foundation’s Cashville Kidz Financial Literacy programme has proven to be an innovative and effective financial literacy programme that provides the necessary knowledge, skills and tools that will enable youths to make informed financial decisions with confidence and ultimately raise their financial capability. The programme had been implemented in Malaysia since 2013 benefiting 180,610 school children in 791 schools whilst in Cambodia, 5,006 school children in 23 schools had benefited. Further planned expansion in the region will position Maybank as the Champion in Financial Literacy in ASEAN.

Since 2008, Maybank Indonesia has carried out various banking education and financial literacy programmes spread across all provinces in Indonesia with a total of more than 25,000 beneficiaries. The Bank designed financial literacy and banking education programmes with great emphasis on the sustainability and used the structured CR framework which covers three focuses: community education, institutional education and stakeholder education. Through these three focuses, the Bank has implemented various integrated and sustainable initiatives in accordance to ISO 26000 guideline promoting human rights and community involvement & development. Some of programmes also involve and encourage employee volunteerism. In the spirit of collectiveness, the programmes target all levels of society irrespective of gender, background and physical differences.

The 11th Annual Global CSR Summit & Awards 2019 is Asia’s Most Prestigious Recognition Awards programme for Corporate Social Responsibility. The programme recognises and honours companies for outstanding, innovative and world-class products, services, projects and programmes implemented in the past or present. These projects should demonstrate the company’s leadership, sincerity and on-going commitment in incorporating ethical values, compliance with legal requirements, and respect for individuals, communities and the environment in the way they do business.
